Ecommerce tax advice
We manage your shop’s taxes and help you make better decisions: margins, costs, corporate structure, international expansion. All from one place.
Talk to an adviserSo your online shop can grow without complications
Managing the taxes of an ecommerce business is far more complex than for a traditional business: intra-EU VAT, the OSS scheme, warehouses abroad, dropshipping or selling on marketplaces such as Amazon, Etsy or eBay create obligations that change depending on where, how and from where you sell.
We don’t just keep your accounts: we analyse your business model, identify hidden costs, optimise your corporate structure and help you scale your ecommerce sensibly and with no surprises from the Spanish Tax Agency.
What our advice for online shops covers
- VAT in Europe
Ecommerce VAT and the OSS scheme
Intra-EU VAT, OSS returns and the €10,000 threshold above which the VAT of the customer’s country applies, if you sell across Europe.
- Marketplaces
Amazon FBA, Etsy and marketplaces
The fees marketplaces invoice you from another EU country (ROI registration, reverse charge and form 349), the data they send to the Spanish Tax Agency under DAC7, and the VAT of each country.
- Dropshipping
Dropshipping: tax and structure
How to be taxed under this model, VAT on low-value consignments from outside the EU under the IOSS scheme, which legal form suits you and how to avoid the most common mistakes.
- Structure
Corporate structure for ecommerce
When to set up a limited company (SL), how to separate brands or product lines and which structure suits international expansion.
- Margins
Profitability and margin analysis
We review your P&L, identify hidden costs and help you understand how much you earn per product or channel.
- Every quarter
Monthly accounting and tax management
Bookkeeping, quarterly and annual returns, and all your tax obligations kept up to date.
Equivalence surcharge, form 309 and VAT at customs
Three points that often cause problems in an online shop, whether you have a warehouse in Spain or sell through dropshipping.
Equivalence surcharge
If you are self-employed and resell products without transforming them, you may be under the equivalence surcharge scheme: you don’t file quarterly VAT returns, your suppliers charge you the surcharge and there are transactions you do have to declare yourself. We review it before any surprise arrives.
Form 309
The VAT return for those who do not file form 303, such as retailers under the equivalence surcharge scheme: purchases from suppliers in other EU countries and marketplace fees invoiced from abroad, such as Amazon’s, under the reverse charge mechanism. It is one of the most frequently forgotten.
Import VAT at customs
If you bring goods from outside the EU into a warehouse in Spain, VAT is paid at customs with the customs declaration (DUA), normally through the freight forwarder, and then deducted, except under the equivalence surcharge. With dropshipping from outside the EU, on shipments of up to €150 VAT is charged at the point of sale with IOSS; without it, your customer pays it on receiving the order, and that often ends in returns.
Platforms and data
It is not a list of integrations: it is making sure every sale, commission, refund and currency exchange ends up in the right place without anyone copying it by hand.
Is your ecommerce business local or international?
An ecommerce business selling in several countries and marketplaces faces taxation that has little to do with that of a local business: the OSS scheme, VAT in the EU, VIES, international warehouses, imports and multiple currencies. At ARRA Corporate we manage that complexity.
This is ARRA Corporate
- You sell in several EU countries or outside the EU
- You sell on several marketplaces and in your own shop (Amazon, Shopify…)
- You have warehouses outside Spain (Amazon FBA)
- VAT by country is starting to become a problem
Is your online shop properly structured for tax?
Many ecommerce businesses pay more than they should or carry VAT errors they don’t spot until the Spanish Tax Agency comes calling. Ask us for a review and we will check it together.
